Every way to customize your macOS menu bar

Essentials

The six choices the welcome tour walks through on first launch. Rest the pointer on a card to see it move.

• Menu bar shape

  Full Bar covers the whole menu bar, edge to edge. Pill wraps the app’s menus in one floating pill and the status items in another.

• Rounded corners

  Rounds the bottom corners of your screen to match the top, with the radius and color of your choice.

• Light reflections

  A soft light beam across the bar that follows your pointer.

• Music visualizer

  Audio bars along the top edge of your screen while music plays, in the colors of the track or of your choosing.

• Progress bar

  A playback progress line on the top edge of your screen that disappears when idle. Hold ⌥ and click it to seek.

• Fill Window

  The green traffic light fills the window instead of entering Full Screen, so the menu bar and your Spaces stay put.

Appearance

• Live

  • Mirrors the screen just under the menu bar as vertical color bands — tabs, split panes and gradients line up with the bar.
  • Sampling rate from 10 to 120 fps — 15 by default; 10 is easiest on battery.

• Fade

  • A vertical fade: each end follows the sample or holds a color of yours.
  • Separate opacity for the top and the bottom.

• Solid

  • One color of your choice, or auto-sampled from the screen.
  • Multicolor: up to 10 color stops, with an optional gradient transition.
  • Hue drift: the bar cycles through the colors — Uniform or Scroll, rainbow or your palette, with a transition time; Scroll adds a direction.
  • Auto-sample, Multicolor and Hue drift are one color source at a time.

• Background blur

  • A frosted blur behind the bar, with its own amount.
  • In Full Bar, blur the overlay corners too, and set how strongly the style paints over the frost.

• Overlay corners

  • Round the overlay’s bottom edge on the left, the right, or both.
  • Link the pair, follow the bar’s opacity, set the radius and color per corner.

• Screen corners

  • Round your display’s own corners — top and bottom.
  • Radius, color and opacity per corner; link a row so both share one setting.

• Placement

  • Bottom corners above app windows, above the wallpaper, or below the active window.
  • Top corners over the menu bar overlay, or behind your windows on the wallpaper.

• Corner stroke

  • A hairline along the rounded corners (beta).

• Full Bar

  • The classic full-width bar.
  • Depth, a seam cover for the window’s top edge, and auto-hide under popovers.

• Pill

  • Floating pills: one follows the app’s menus, one the status items.
  • Corner radius, inset, padding, border, glass fill, offsets — single or separate pills.
  • The left pill needs Accessibility permission; the right pill works without it.

Animation

• Rise

  • The bar fills upward as it appears, and disappears instantly.

• Spread

  • Spreads out from the notch as it appears, and collapses to the center as it goes.

Light reflections

• Light beam

  • A thin beam at the top edge follows your pointer and glows in the sampled color.
  • Glow, beam bloom, and a spread-in animation when the pointer arrives.

• Fine-tuning

  • Length, brightness, height, top streak and hotspot.
  • Core brightness and color — or let the core follow the sampled color.

Music visualizer

Set it up: add a music visualizer to your menu bar

• Bars & waves

  • Audio-reactive bars, or soft waves flowing along the top edge.
  • Bar thickness and gap; wave count, edge softness, opacity, peaks and spectrum.
  • Runs at up to 120 Hz on displays that can.

• Color, trail & glow

  • Mono, Solid, Rainbow, a Palette for the waves, or Artwork — the playing cover’s color.
  • A falling trail behind the bars and a glow that breathes with the music.

• Progress bar

  • A thin line along the top edge fills with the current track.
  • Mono, solid or rainbow. Hold ⌥ (or the modifier you choose) and click or drag to seek.
  • ⌥ ← / → skips 10 seconds; ⌥ ↑ / ↓ goes to the next or previous track.
  • Can hide itself after a pause of 5–30 seconds, and comes back when playback resumes.

Behavior

• Always on

  • Keep the overlay visible even when no window fills the screen.
  • Empty desktop as black, transparent or blur; overlay height and corner radius of your choice.

• Sampling

  • Pause sampling while the pointer is in the menu bar, so open menus never tint the bar.
  • Render the overlay behind app windows instead of on top.

• Excluded apps

  • Apps the overlay leaves alone: while an excluded app covers the screen the overlay hides, and its windows are never sampled for color.

Profiles & shortcuts

• Per-app profiles

  • A different look for each app — style, colors, hue drift and more — switched as you switch apps.

• Global shortcuts

  • Toggle the master switch, the overlay, the visualizer, the progress bar and the corners from anywhere.
  • Shortcuts always change your global settings; per-app profiles are never touched.

Advanced

Set it up: a real full-screen look without a separate Space

• Strokes

  • Overlay stroke (beta): a hairline matching the system window stroke — curve radius, fade, and a fade around the notch.
  • Notch stroke, and an overlay that dissolves behind the notch.

• Power-user toggles

  • Smooth colors: blend sampled changes over time to reduce flicker.
  • Fill Window: the green traffic light fills the window instead of entering Full Screen.
  • Separate corner windows: the legacy renderer, if you want it.
